All about Bees and more

We have been doing a lot of work since January, mostly all about bees

For our new topic after half term we have been doing an environmental issue. Instead of things far from Bath that don't really affect us, we are doing bees
We have been learning all about how bees live and what life would BEE like if they no longer existed. They're a lot more interesting than you might think! We have watched lots of videos about bees disappearing without a trace from their hives overnight, called 'Colony Collapse Disorder'.
We have been working hard trying to finish several pieces of bee and flower based work ON TIME. Here is a display of our hard work.

World Book Day

As most you may know last week we celebrated world book day and all dressed up as our favorite book characters, like Tom Gates, Katniss from the Hunger Games and Oompah Loompas! Here's a picture of us all in our fab costumes.  We all had an amazing time dressing up!

Newbridge Radio Stations!

We all had an amazing time during the afternoons in Test Week recently, making radio stations and on the Friday we recorded them and listened to them later on. The picture above is the N.P.S. Radio 7 FM.

Techniquest

Last week, on the 14th January, Year 6 went to Techniquest for an exciting school trip. Techniquest is a superb science discovery centre which has 160 interactive exhibits. It is in Cardiff and on our journey there we experienced a massive traffic jam due to the winter wonderland we were driving through! When we arrived, everyone was gobsmacked by all the scientific experiments.

"My favourite exhibit was a jet of air that blew onto a beach ball so it looked like the ball was floating!" says Archie.

"My favorite exhibit was a screen which clearly showed your shadow and then took a photo of your shadow!" by Cherry.

There was even a dark room which included a tray with a swirling mist billowing out of it. This was a water vapour so when you touched it, it felt wet.  There was a giant dome and when you spoke into it the sound came out of an identical giant dome on the other side of the museum! There was also a wet area where all the exhibits were water based and had water squirting out of them. It was lots of fun!  There were so many exhibits that we haven't got enough space to tell you about them all!

We also watched an interactive show on Materials and saw things like setting fire to ice, make rubber solid and much more.  It was really interesting.

Everyone had a wonderful time and didn't want it to end.
